School Council 2022/2023
All school councillors for last academic year have been given the option of remaining on the school council for a ‘second term in office’ in order to further develop the positive work they have begun. A small number of new vacancies have also been filled. This year, Mrs Matthews will lead the Teaching & Learning Council, with Mr Abbs leading the Core Value and Eco-Council.
Teaching & Learning Council Last year, this council gave us their views on multiple experiences within the classroom, ranging from the levels of support, challenge and feedback they receive; their views on how we can make knowledge more ‘sticky’ and their aspirations for learning outdoors. Impact of their feedback and work led to: -Greater use of quizzes within school -Heightened opportunities for use of the ICT suite/access to tech to support learning across school -School trips planned for Autumn Term 2022 Watch this space for further developments in Academic Year 2022/2023
Core Value Council This council gave their views on – and wanted to – further develop the lunchtime provision in school Impact of their feedback and work led to: -crowd funding support and the eventual purchase and installation of the new gym -timetable developments and resources to further support lunchtime provision Watch this space for further developments in Academic Year 2022/2023
Eco Council This council gave multiple views and suggestions of how we can be more eco-friendly as a school. Impact of their feedback and work led to: -booking an assembly with Hunts District Council, focussing on recycling as well as raising awareness in school of what can/can’t be recycled in our class green bins -regular litter picks at lunchtime throughout last Academic Year -early planning of an Eco-club for lunchtimes (now scheduled for Spring Term 2023) -views on next steps in chicken development (ongoing work in Academic Year 2022/2023) Watch this space for further developments in Academic Year 2022/2023
